Dr Lionel Milgrom

Dr. Lionel Milgrom has been researching in porphyrin chemistry for over 24 years. His fascination for these colourful compounds began as a Post Graduate Research Assistant with Prof. G.W. Kenner at Liverpool University and continued with Dr. J. Dalton at the City of London Polytechnic, followed by working as a Post Doctoral Research Assistant with Prof. D.F. Evans FRS and Prof W.J. Albery FRS at Imperial College of Science and Technology.

His independent research career included posts as senior lecturer in inorganic chemistry at Kingston Polytechnic and then Brunel University before moving back as a Senior Visiting Scientist to Imperial College in collaboration with Prof. Phillips.

He is author or co-author of some 70 academic papers on various scientific aspects of porphyrins, has written a book on the chemistry of porphyrins and related compounds entitled, ‘The Colours of Life’, and is a respected science writer and communicator with many articles and reviews published in broadsheets and magazines.
